This post is a slight departure from our previous ones and is just a short observance that in today’s world of e-mail, messaging, tweets, etc., receiving a handwritten letter or note of appreciation has sadly become an uncommon occurrence. When we receive a personal note of thanks from a friend or client for our efforts on their account, it does more than just make us feel good, it sparks a renewed good will and appreciation for the sender.
Taking those few extra minutes to pen a note and mail it, or personally call to express appreciation can go a long way to cement friendships and client loyalty. Many times it’s these little things that “speak louder” and are remembered than the actual work we do.
It’s tempting to send a nasty e-mail or make a cutting remark when you’re unhappy with someone; people do it all the time. Wouldn’t it be great if we devoted the same amount of energy to showing our appreciation and support for each other? To remember what Mom used to say, “Be nice.”
